Ethiopia Reads is excited to announce our first Children’s Reading Summit on March 13, 2019 in Addis Ababa at the Sapphire Hotel. The objective of this one of its kind Summit is to share Ethiopia Reads’ 15 years of experience with other literacy and youth related organizations. The value of having libraries for young children will be discussed. Ready, Set, Go (dual-language) book project supported by Ethiopia Reads’ partner, Open Heart, Big Dreams Foundation will be presented as well as the newly completed and field tested Ethiopia Reads Book Centered Learning Curriculum.

We are expected approximate 150 participants from within Ethiopia and international literacy and library experts. Among the presenters are Jane Kurtz, Ethiopia Reads Co-founder, Laurie Curtis, Ethiopia Reads Board Member & Chairperson of the Book Centered Learning Committee, and Carol Settgast, an amazing American children’s books library along with esteemed colleagues from the Ministry of Education, Addis Ababa University and various embassies. Yemisrach Worku, Ethiopia Reads Country Director, is organizing the summit and will be a part of the program.
