You are cordially invited to An American Girl-themed Mother-Daughter Tea benefitting Ethiopia Reads on Sun., May 1 at 3pm at Montview Blvd. Pres. Church in Denver, CO. Please bring your daughters, mothers, grandmothers, friends, or just come on your own! We will be celebrating women, girls, reading, libraries, and making a difference in the world! ALL ARE WELCOME!

Jane Kurtz, author, speaker and literacy advocate will be our special guest and keynote speaker. Jane has written many children’s books (37 in fact!), a number of which are Ethiopia-inspired- based on her childhood experience of growing up there. The others range widely including the American Girl “Lanie” series, books in the Green Light Readers “50 States to Celebrate” series, novels and books for educators. She is also a founder of Ethiopia Reads, and continues to passionately promote literacy work in Ethiopia. In case you are not already familiar, Ethiopia Reads “collaborates with communities to build schools, plant libraries, train educators, boost literacy, and provide youth and families with the tools to improve their lives.”

The tea will feature child-centered dolly and me stations and other fun activities, including a small silent auction of American Girl-related items. A drawing will be held to win the American Girl Doll of the Year, Lea Clark! It will be a wonderful opportunity to spend time with the special girls and women in your life, and also make reading and literacy a reality for children in Ethiopia!
