SEATTLE 2016: An evening with Ethiopia Reads
September 17, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm PDT
Join us for our Seattle fall fundraiser & celebration!
This event allows us to do even more for the 130,000 children we serve in Ethiopia annually. This beautiful evening will be a lively celebration of the cuisine, music, art and poetry of Ethiopia, featuring silent and live auctions, a wine wall, and a raffle. This is an opportunity to learn more about Ethiopia Reads and support the organization!
All proceeds from the 2016 event will support Ethiopia Reads 2017 priorities including:
- Supporting Book-Centered professional development to help Ethiopian teachers gain new skills.
- Developing a new mobile literacy project that provides training, mentoring and programming to existing libraries and reading rooms in the densely populated and under-resourced Merkato area of Addis Ababa.
- Creating new children’s and community libraries in Soramba, Wukro and Gondar which will provide local language books, a trained librarian and community building initiatives to expand literacy.
- Expanding our innovative Horse-Powered Literacy program which brings the wonder of reading and storytelling to rural children, many of whom have never held a book before.
