Peace Corps Partnership Grant Fully Funded

Nwando Diallo, U.S. Peace Corps Ethiopia Country Director, has reported that the Peace Corps Partnership Grant submitted by Peace Corps Volunteer Nicholas Strnad (Mekelle 2009-) has been fully funded.  The grant for $4904.19 is designated to help construct the Youth Library Wing at the Segenat Children and Youth Library in Mekelle, a partnership between the City of Mekelle and the Ethiopian Books for Children and Educational Foundation (Ethiopia Reads).

Ethiopia & Eritrea Peace Corps Volunteers Legacy Grant

Ethiopia Reads is pleased to announce that it is a recipient of an Ethiopia and Eritrea Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Legacy Program grant.   The “Ethiopia Reads in Awassa” project is an ongoing appeal that was championed by Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Lois Shoemaker (Asmara 62-64) and Ethiopia Reads volunteer.

Electricity crisis affecting Ethiopia office

An issue at a hydro facility has plunged Ethiopia into a power crisis and our Ethiopian office has had to revert to more expensive generator power/fuel system in order to maintain operations.

Donkeys Help Children Reading

It is early in the morning. The rain does not stop the people from going to see the surprise that comes to the children of Bui town, 130 KM far to the south west of Addis Ababa. Children with full of smile are staring at the gift that is sent from EBCEF/Ethiopia Reads in collaboration with the Delta Kappa Gamma Society Int, Rotary International, and Rotary Finot Addis Ababa.
