Tax Deductible Donations

Ethiopia Reads welcomes your tax-deductible donation in any amount. All donations are used to support and expand our programs in Ethiopia. Your dollar stretches far in Ethiopia where the average annual income is estimated to be $125. 

  • $2 = Funds one Ethiopian language story book for a child. All are given for free to Ethiopian children
  • $5 = Can buy an Amharic-English dictionary for Ethiopian children
  • $500 = Can provide an Ethiopian educator with a scholarship for library skills training
  • $750 = Can purchase enough Ethiopian language story books and reference materials for one library
  • $1,000 = Can fund food and shelter for Queen Helina (donkey that pulls the mobile library) and one Donkey Mobile Library
  • $3,500 = Can provide one year's salary for an Ethiopian library manager
  • $10,000 = Can plan a fully-functional library with hundreds of books
  • $TBD = Can fund the shipment of a container of up to 40,000 books (shipping costs vary depending on time of year, route, and fuel prices, contact us for more info)
  • $TBD = Can fund the building of a Donkey Mobile Library (program currently being redesigned, contact us for more info)

Matching Gifts

Matching Gifts are a great way to make your gift go even further. Does your company participate in a matching gift program? If so, please let them know about your gift to Ethiopia Reads, and forward all necessary forms to Ethiopia Reads by mail, email or fax. If your company has a charitable foundation, please let us know if Ethiopia Reads might be eligible to apply for funding.
