On November 16, 2025, the Board of Directors and staff of Ethiopia Reads successfully gathered in Silver Spring, Maryland, for a Meet & Greet with 80+ old friends and potential new supporters. We were thrilled to share our impactful work and introduce Country Director Yemisrach Worku to the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) metro area. We’re especially grateful to have met many of the young children’s book authors and young leaders in the area who have been instrumental in the growth and energizing Friends of Ethiopia Reads – DC.
Before the event, we had a memorable visit with Ethiopian legendary artist Ms. Alemtsehay Wodajo, an actress, poet, writer, and founder of the Tayitu Cultural and Education Center as ER recently signed a cooperative agreement with the Center in Addis Ababa.
The Board of Directors also spent two days discussing our accomplishments, monitoring and evaluation, areas needing improvement and prioritizing activities and expansion for the next 2-5 years. We would like to thank Melaku Negussie for his hospitality and in providing the meeting space for ER.
