Friends of Ethiopia Reads invite you to an IMAGINARY SCHOOL DANCE honoring students and staff of Schroeder Middle School, Grand Forks, ND.

Friends of Ethiopia Reads is honoring students and staff of Schroeder MS for 12 consecutive years of supporting literacy in Ethiopia. Each spring since 2007, 7th graders have spread out into the community and spent the school day working, raising money, then donating the proceeds to Ethiopia Reads to support a variety of literacy programs.

Schroeder Middle School students and staff have raised close to $40,000. The very first workday raised dollars that funded a school library in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital. In 2012, proceeds helped to fund a school library in the Somali region of Ethiopia, one of the most remote regions of Ethiopia. Proceeds have also helped to purchase collections of English and local language books, and provided training for Ethiopian educators.

Ethiopia Reads now needs your help to ensure children in Ethiopia will continue to have safe places to read and learn, and books they can read in their own language.
